Projects Of Our Orphanage
Over the last few years our orphanage has been involved in many projects. Many of these programs are fundraised for online on our website as well as through our local donations and income generated from other sources (such as our sale of our excess crops). Below are several projects that our organization has been involved in, for further information click the link below each project.

| The largest single project ever undertaken by us is the dream to build a new government recognized school to give our children a far better education and ultimately a much better future. The school has potential to support the orphanage through admission fees. Construction has begun and is currently at the foundation stage. As this is such a large project we can only continue work as finance is secured. |

| We are in desperate need of a school bus to continue expanding our current (and future schools). Currently two of our older vehicles are being used to transport children to and from the local villages -but this is only a temporary solution as they are not nearly capable of keeping up with the demand. |

Vocational Training Center |

|
|
| The dreams of one day opening a Vocational Training Center on our mission are soon becoming a reality. Currently as it stands outside our school certificate and our mission "Trainee Certificate" our children do not receive any other "qualifications". Our hope is to start up several government recognized vocational training courses to give our children not only a greater understanding of things but also assist them with qualifications for job application in the future. |

| Our current girls hostel is in terrible decay. Being the oldest building on the mission it is now sadly in need of replacement. We hope to be able to construct a low cost new hostel for the 20+ girls that are currently staying in it. The new hostel would help provide security, comfort and of course a "homely feeling" for these children aged 14-18. |

| The New School Year is in and our school is badly in need of new resources. Books, toys, learning tools and equipment are all very useful in providing a good education for our children. As well as this many of the desks, chairs and doors/windows could use painting and repairs. |

| Our school is badly in need of a new playground facility. Our hopes are that we can construct a swing set, a fort, some monkey bars and a climbing frame. This equipment would be used daily by the children of our school and outside of school times would be available to the "Small Boys" of our orphanage. |

| One of the small projects that we have been working on this monsoon is the renovation of an old bathroom in the Big Boys Hostel. It has not been used for the last 10 years and so we have decided to turn it into a small guestroom -suitable for up to 4 guests. We have been having a lot more volunteer workers over the last few months so this should help a lot in providing comfortable accommodation for them. |

| After over 3 decades of use the old laundry was in need of replacing. Cracked floors, walls and rusty, faulty equipment meant that it would actually be easier to change the entire location of the laundry. With the help of some volunteers and donations we were able to build a new laundry and turn the one into an undercover clothes hanging area (for use in the monsoon). |

For over 30 years there has been a colony of people who have lived on a corner of the mission who all suffer from leprosy. These people are outcasts from their society, rejected and left to live the rest of their lives unemployed -generally as beggars. Recently thanks to the help of a volunteer from Australia, we have begun construction on a new housing project for them. At the moment the only thing left to do is fit out the electrical work and finish some painting.

| We were in great need of some repairs to our tractor trailers which are used on the farm. Our old single axel steel trailers have been in use for years (one of them since 1954) and are badly in need of new steel floors and sides. Thanks to volunteer help we made a new trailer and repaired all our other ones, this was all done in our workshop by our staff/workers/volunteers. |

New Office / Administration Building |
 |
|
| For nearly 2 decades the mission has really needed a new office/administration area. After 2 years of planning; Stage 1 and 2 of this new building have now been constructed. The new building contains the main admin area as well as accommodation and a kitchen. Replacing the old office, the new admin building really is looking great! |

| Cooking for a large family has been a great expense over the years, but one thing that had made it all a whole lot cheaper was our "cow manure powered gas plant" -this system allowed us to have free "natural" gas to cook our food. After many years one of the collection drums needed replacing, thanks to the help of some volunteer workers we were able to do this. |

| One of the biggest needs at the moment is for better bathrooms. Many have not had any work done on them for decades. Leaky taps, rusty cubicle doors (if any), no paint, cracked cement and bad ventilation lead to some very smelly toilets. There are 8 major bathrooms which we plan to eventually renovate. We have had many groups of volunteers help out with this work. |
