Painting & Renovations
help-orphans
Many of our buildings and hostels had not received a coat of paint yet. Although painting is an ongoing project (as each monsoon the rains & humidity damage paint significantly) our hope is to at least get one coat of paint on each of our buildings.

Cost: $4,000
Raised: 100%

It is our hope that we will one day be able to get rid of all the dull grey concrete walls by painting them with bright "happy" colours. Many areas have already been painted such as the nursery, dining room, older boys and girls hostel and small girls hostel but there are still many more to be painted.

It is amazing the way a coat of paint can transform a room, make it brighter and hopefully more encouraging to the children living in it. The difference can be instantly seen. Also other small jobs like repairs to doors, windows and mosquito wire is a regular job. This work is generally done by people here doing volunteer work as it is a really simple thing to be able to complete if they are just volunteering for a week or two.

Over the years monsoon moisture causes the old wooden doors and frames to rot out -often we find them in need of replacing. Metal doors and window frames are a much more expensive option, but they last much longer when correctly looked after.

This project will be an ongoing project for years to come as there is a necessity to re-paint the rooms every few years. As financial aid permits we will continue to paint, replace and repair the old, faded, broken and damaged sections of the mission. The last photo shows one of our volunteer workers adding a personal touch to the nursery. He volunteered here for over 4 months a few years ago and will not be forgotten.
